Badminton Court

The dimensions of a badminton court is 20 feet by 44 feet.

The lines along these measurements mark the sidelines for doubles play and long sevice lines for singles play.

The net is placed on the net line which is middle of the court.

The short service line is marked 6 feet 6 inches from the center line.

The center line is the line that divides the court from the short service line to the back boundary line.

The singles side line is marked 1 1/2 feet from the edge of the outer boundary.

The back boundary line is the same for singles and doubles play it is the outermost back line on the court.

The long service line for doubles is marked 2 1/2 feet inside the back boundary line.

The net measures 5 feet tall in the center.

Singles

As seen on the expertly-drawn badminton court below, there is a dark red box.  During general play the shuttle must land within the opposing player's red box. On the line is in, meaning if any part of the shuttle touches the line (even if it's the edge of the feathers) the point is counted.

Doubles

The light red shaded area indicates the service area. The shuttle must land in the diagonally opposite side of the court.

The blue box indicates the doubles court for during general play.  Similarly, the light blue shaded area indicates the service area. Note that the service area is short and wide in comparison to the singles court.

To do: add picture of court indicating the lines. Add headings, color. Add references (no refs means I must delete this page), add two links to other pages.
