Olympic Team Handball was first introduced in 1936 in the Summer games in Berlin, Germany. It was dropped after that summer and resumed again in 1972, in the Summer games, once again in Germany. Women's team handball was introduced the next Summer Olympic games, in 1976.

1948-1968 (handball was removed from Olympic games)

1972 - Yugoslavia

1976 - Soviet Union

1980 - East Germany

1984 - Yugoslavia

1988 - Soviet Union

1992 - Unified Team

1996 - Croatia

2000 - Russia

2004 - Croatia

2008 - France

 

Women's Gold Medal:

1976 - Soviet Union

1980 - Soviet Union

1984 - Yugoslavia

1988 - South Korea

1992 - South Korea

1996 - Denmark

2000 - Denmark

2004 - Denmark

2008 - Norway

To do: 2 links to other pages. Explain why it was dropped for several years from the Olympics. Upon who's request was it that Team Handball be an Olympic sport? Add a picture or Youtube video, add 2 refs in footnotes.
