Title Game: Around the Horn

Time Needed: 5-10 minutes

Equipment Needed: One ball

Detail Description: This game is based on baseball.  In baseball, this drill simulates the runners who try to round the bases before they are tagged out at each base.  In this drill there will be three lines of offense approaching the goal.  Three defensive players will try to tag the offensive players out before they can throw the ball "around the horn" to their other team mates resulting in a shot on goal.  The goal in this drill resembles the home plate in baseball.  The offensive players will throw the ball as hard and as quickly as possible as to get the ball all the way around the shooting line before they are tagged or intercepted by defensive players.  The point of this drill is to learn how to pass the ball fast and accurately with defensive pressure.

Title Game: 3-man weave

Time Needed: 2-3 minutes

Equipment Needed: 1 handball

Detailed Description: You have three players lined up at the end of the court, one player on each "out of bounds line" and one in the middle. The person in the middle of the court has the ball. He/she starts by throwing the handball to their teammate on the right, and then that teammate throws it across the court to their other teammate to the right. In the meantime, the person who throws the ball, follows the person to whom they have thrown it to, thus, weaving in and out of each other. Try to get down the court as fast as you can. This helps with passings skills!

Title Game: Zig-Zag Drill

Time Needed: 5 minutes

Equipment Needed: 1 ball and 4 cones per team

Detailed Description: You set up the four cones in a diagonal pattern.  You start one on a line and another one ten feet in front at a slight diagonal to the left.  The third cone is set up on the same line as the first cone but at a slight diagonal to the second cone.  The fourth cone is set up on the same line as the second cone but at a slight diagonal to the third one.  You dribble from the first cone to the second, then changing directions to continue to the third cone, then changing directions to finish through the fourth cone and making a throw at a target after you pick up your dribble at the fourth cone.  After you make your throw at the target you pick up the ball and pass it to the next person in line to start the drill again.  After everyone has gone through the drill once you can start again at the third cone going the opposite direction, by moving the fourth cone on the other side, which you would again finish at.  Hard to explain in text.. easy to explain and set up in person.

Title Game: Outlet

Time Needed: 5 min

Equipment Needed: One ball

Detailed Description: Half the players (depending on the the number) will split up, half go on the back wall-- let's say 10, the other half stand on the side of court, and one player stands at the top of the circle of the box (goal). This person from the middle throws the ball against the wall and catches his own rebound; the first person on the outside line calls "outlet" and the player who rebounded his own ball throws him a chest pass, from there the "outlet" dribbles down the court, leaving enough room from the top of the box (goal line), at this point the rebounder should already be coming around the "outlet" as he makes his way down the court. The "outlet" bounce passes/hand passes to the person and the person shoots off the back wall. The game starts over once the old "outlet" becomes the new rebounder, and the new "outlet" is the second person in line, making their way down the other end of the court. Or both of the players can stop playing and let 2 new people start the game over.

Title Game: Team Star Relay Dribble Drills

Time Needed: 5 minutes or less

Equipment Needed: 1 ball

Detailed Description: Each team has five members who stand in a star formation (as if to stand on the tips of a star) about ten feet apart from their neighbors. When all the teams are set, and each has a ball, a signal is given to start (the objective is to be the first one done with the drill) and a five minute timer is set. A member of each team begins by dribbling the ball 15 times. When they complete this task without error (If a member messes up they have to start their individual task over) then they pass the ball to the 2nd person to their right. This person then attempts the task until successful and passes the ball to the 2nd neighbor to his/her right and so on until the ball returns to the starting member. When it arrives after a full revolution, the task changes. The 2nd task will be to dribble the ball, touch a knee to the floor, and stand straight again all the while dribbling the ball. The 3rd task will be to spin around on one’s spot 10 times and then run a loop around the entire group and then settle in one’s place again before passing the ball all the while dribbling the ball without dropping (the person does not have to dribble the ball while they spin, but start when they begin to run). When this task is finished and the ball returns to the starting member after the 3rd revolution, all the members shout their team name to indicate that they are finished. The first team to finish wins. All teams must halt at the end of the 5 minute timer if they are not finished. Odd men out can serve as referees or cheerleaders.
